The next Tomb Raider game will apparently let players loose in an open-world India, according to leaks.

Tomb Raider is one of those franchises that never truly goes away, a good thing too as they’re almost always bangers.

There’s even a Tomb Raider anime coming to Netflix soon, take a look at the trailer below

It’s been a spectacular few years for fans of the series as well, as we’ve got an anime on the way, an awesome remaster of the first three PlayStation games, and now talk of a high-budget sequel.

According to V-Scooper, a leaker who apparently has a decent track record for insider reporting, the next Tomb Raider game will be bigger than anything that’s come before it.

It’ll apparently include an open-world, set in India, and which players can navigate through a variety of different transport options, like bikes, parachuting and more.

Additionally it’s said the game will “release in less than a year if there are no delays. But this is totally not locked.”

Now like any leak and rumour, you must take it with a grain of salt as ultimately it’s up to Square Enix to confirm or deny the reports, but if these leaks are credible it sounds like it’ll be a spectacular addition to the series.

Fans on Reddit are both excited and weary, with one pointing out that “the next Resident Evil and Tomb Raider games are both open-world…”, quite a big step for both IPs.

Some pointed out the leak makes it sound like the next game will be Just Cause, but with Lara Croft as the protagonist instead.

One long-time fan of Tomb Raider said “I'm an old school Tomb Raider fan … I don't mind an open world setting especially if the traversal mechanics are fun, but I still prefer a level based design.”

Again take the leak with a grain of salt, as only time will tell what’s actually planned for the next Lara Croft adventure.
