It’s almost Halloween, which means gamers everywhere are getting into the spirit with some classic horror games or movies.
While there’s a list of scary games worth playing this year, some of which you can check out via your PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, one game you wouldn’t expect to carry horror vibes is Red Dead Redemption 2.

Rockstar’s second go at a Western fantasy has some surprisingly chilling moments, and fans believe they’ve found the creepiest one of all, The Strange Man.
The Strange is actually a recurring character in the Red Dead Redemption series, appearing several times in the first game, he informs John Marston that he knows all about his past and future, seemingly predicting the protagonist’s death at the end of the game.
His identity is still unknown, and a huge topic of debate amongst fans, with some believing he’s Death, The Devil or God themself.
He also appears briefly in Red Dead Redemption 2 which fans are hailing as the game’s creepiest moment.

In a Reddit post by lMr_Nobodyl asking fans for their “favourite creepy encounter and easter egg” in Red Dead Redemption 2, one commenter stated the sudden appearance of The Strange Man was the best, saying it “made me jump.”
The encounter takes place in a random cabin housing a portrait of the man, only for him to appear behind the player in a reflection.
Other fans agreed, especially since his appearance is once again unexplained with added creepiness that someone was putting together a makeshift shrine for them out in the wild.
“The fact that he's not there when you turn around and look back at the mirror is creepy.”

“Yeah this legitimately creeps me out whenever I remember it. Then it takes me an hour to stop being paranoid as if the strange man knows me lol.”
“I never saw the reflection... Stopped by multiple times and saw the painting progress, but when it was done, nothing in the mirror. The next time I went the painting was gone and the room looked like it had been cleared out.”
Rockstar seemingly has a talent for including the weird and disturbing in its open-world games, hopefully Grand Theft Auto VI delves a little deeper into the occult as well.
