If you’re looking for a new atmospheric, photorealistic horror game to give you nightmares for the foreseeable future, look no further than EXP: War Trauma.
As DSOGaming reports, the first-person horror title is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 by Cortez Productions for Steam (sorry, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch gang), and the newly-released gameplay footage highlights that it's oozing with major P.T. vibes. It’s amazing how much a teaser for a cancelled game has continued to influence the world of horror. Then again, given how spooky it was, it’s no wonder that so many other developers have tried to follow in its footsteps.
Refresh yourself on the nightmare fuel that is P.T. below.
EXP: War Trauma puts players into the shoes of a traumatised WWII solider named Krieger. Playing through the game and facing its horrors will allow you to ultimately discover what happened in his past, in a unique fictional story inspired by some historical facts. Take a look at the game in action in the video below.
“You are completely helpless, your only weapon is your intelligence,” the game’s official synopsis reads. “Explore a mysterious and strange apartment, solve riddles, and most important of all, when the countdown starts, be quick. The full version of the game will feature scenarios from WWII with unique mechanics.”

Intrigued? If so, you’re in luck, as a free demo is available to download and play via Steam right now. According to the developer, the demo includes “a loop gameplay system which does not represent the full game”, so keep that in mind if you decide to dive in. You can find its Steam store page right here.
As for the title's full release, well, it’s not clear when that’s going to happen. For now, the game’s store page simply states that it’s ‘coming soon’, so we could be waiting some time yet. It’s looking really promising, though, so be sure to keep an eye on it.
