Steam drops a ton of new free downloads you can check out this weekend

Steam users can try out a variety of freebies this weekend

Steam users can play a near-endless supply of free games on the store right now thanks to the Steam Next Fest.

Steam Next Fest is a digital festival celebrating the most-played demos on the store, and there are some real bangers there if you sift through them.

Star Wars Outlaws launches in just a few weeks! See our preview for the game below

That being said, why do the sifting yourself when we can do it for you? So without further delay here are some demos we’d recommend you give a go.

Starting off with a weird one but stay with me here, Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a surprisingly fun game.

I’m biassed here because I regularly log onto it for a few hours on my Steam Deck, as it’s a great game to play when you just want to unwind and watch some YouTube videos.

In the game you’ll start your own trucking empire, and drive all around the world doing various jobs and earning a truckload of cash.

But I know trucking isn’t everyone’s idea of a good time, so why not try something a bit more engaging, like Half Sword?

Half Sword is like a slightly watered-down version of Chivalry, a game where you go head-to-head as a knight and duel your opponents with all manner of steel weapons.

There’s another demo with a similar idea called Gladio Mori, but it’s a bit more silly with crash-test dummy-style player models.

However, out of all the demos currently available on Steam, there’s one that needs your attention more than anything, and that’s Five Laps At Freddy’s.

Yes, that’s right, the video game series known for its disturbing animatronic foes has made the leap to a different genre, a Mario Kart-esque racing game where you’ll play as one of its world famous characters and race around a variety of tracks.

It’s a banger, but if it’s not your cup of tea I’d urge you to check the full list of Steam demos for yourself and see what catches your eye.
