I didn’t think the combination of Fallout and Stardew Valley would appeal as much as it now does.
It was only after I saw Doloc Town that this mash-up of genres and styles really appealed to me and made me want to get my grubby little hands on the game.

There’s definitely a touch of Fallout here in the post-apocalyptic lifestyle but this exists without the serious approach of the Bethesda series.

Abandoned buildings are just a part of everyday life in Doloc Town, and the world is certainly crumbling around our ears.
Yet there seems to be some whimsy and joy, despite the heavy weight of the world on our shoulders. The visual design certainly offers that thought, anyway.
Then, of course, we can’t ignore the obvious farming/simulation vibes akin to Stardew Valley, which allows players to express themselves any way they choose, all while personalising the world around us.
There’s currently a free demo available and it gives players three hours with the game to see how things play out.

I’ve got it downloading to my Steam Deck and my PC as I type this because the idea of apocalyptic life in a cutesy sim really appeals.
What I didn’t expect to find when I browsed the Steam page for the game was the combat on offer.
The visuals and premise certainly don’t scream bullet-hell shooter, but that was a pleasant discovery and it will hopefully lend the game a little more depth.
The side-view building aesthetics remind me of Fallout Shelter and there seem to be a lot of customisation options for the eventual base you’ll build.

So far, it seems the Steam community is enjoying the slice of time on offer and I’m sure it’ll end up on a lot of wishlists as development nears completion.
