We can hear Santa’s sleigh bells in the distance – far, far distance – with the countdown to Christmas truly upon us. What better way to see in the festivities, then, than enjoying the six free games Steam has just dropped for us?
Ah yes, the season of giving is upon us, with Steam arguably the most giving of all. In truth, the online platform often delivers a collection of free games to whet our appetites each month, but with Christmas around the bend, this latest offering feels more… jolly.
Another early Christmas treat comes from Netflix with the original GTA Trilogy joining the service!
Twitter account Free Steam Games (the holiest of Steam resources) shared the news in the early hours of 15 December, when most of us were soundly sleeping and/or enjoying trying to speedrun another playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Predominately, the six PC freebies are rather cutesy, with the likes of grittier titles, such as Bloodshots there to give a much-needed dose of horror for those who share my beliefs that Christmas is the ideal time for spooks and scares.
In the recently released survival horror, you’ll need to explore a laboratory filled with twisted experiments gone awry in the hopes of finding your daughter before it’s too late. Standard, tropey, predictable yet entertaining horror that the darkest hearts amongst us can enjoy!
Should you prefer something more lighthearted for Christmas time, you might want to play Yukiusa instead; featuring “bouncing snow rabbits”, it doesn’t get more Christmassy than frolicking in the snow. Fans are saying that it’s “an easy free game with pleasant music”, which is all anyone needs to while away a few hours.

As you can see, the options open to you are varied yet familiar, allowing you to tap into particular gaming interests with ease. Arguably, most of the titles are fast-paced, but most take the edge off with adorable imagery and relaxed humour.
