They say there's no such thing as a free lunch, but I'm here to tell you there is such a thing as free Steam store credit. Which I guess is not really the same thing, but here we are.
2023 was a ridiculous year for video games ( why not check out our end of year list?), but 2024 is looking just as huge. Between Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Star Wars Outlaws, and Dragon's Dogma 2, you'll want to start saving now.
Seriously, have you seen Dragon's Dogma 2. Unbelievable.
Fortunately, if you've got a Steam account (and why on Earth would you even be here if you don't?), you can win yourselves some free store credit right now.

The (totally legit) Twitter account Free Steam Games is currently hosting a giveaway in which two $20 Steam vouchers are up for grabs. To enter you just need to take a look at this here tweet and follow the very simple steps outlined within. Not everyone is guaranteed the credit, of course, but someone has to win.
The competition ends on 7 January, at which point two winners will be drawn. Free Steam Games hosts giveaways like this all the time, so it's all above board. Just don't ever pass on personal contact or credit card details if you're asked to. If that happens, someone with a fake account is very clearly trying to scam you.
So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and enter. And while you wait, you can check out these 36 free Steam games, or check out one of the below free demos.
- Factoria - I don't like to use the word addictive when I'm describing video games, but... Factoria is an incredibly hard game to put down. This demo will get its hooks in you.
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 - If you need an excuse to listen to 'Driving Home For Christmas' over and over again, this is for you.
- Final Fantasy XIV - A free trial of one of the best MMORPGs out there. You will lose yourself.
- Sky: Children Of The Light - Gorgeous, and incredibly relaxing.
- Bits And Bops - A gorgeous rhythm game.
- Balatro - A poker roguelite, which seems like an odd combo.
- Warm Snow - A stunning looking roguelike action RPG.
- Backpack Battles - An inventory management auto battler that looks way too satisfying.
- Half Sword - A very funny, but surprisingly historically accurate, battle simulator.
- Street Fighter 6 - One of the best games of the year. I don't need to say anything more.
- Bread And Fred - An adorable co-op platformer with penguins. Love penguins.
- Davigo - Not really sure how to describe this one, but it looks really damn cool.
