Steam adds 4 new games, yours for free, to soothe those January blues

Four freebies to grab

Steam has some freebies for you to grab, four of them, in fact. All you need to do is head over to the store pages and claim the games, which you can keep forever.

As ever, Steam is coming up with the goods and if you’re in the mood for something new, there are a few to choose from.

A few games from Steam to play on your Deck

First up, we’ve got 2024: Aliens Are Coming. This is a sci-fi adventure game where you’ll explore space, encounter aliens, and utilise psionic powers such as telekinesis, telepathy, shielding, remote viewing, and psionic blasts.

QuickSwitch is a 2D shooter, bursting with different game modes from a top-down view. You can play this one with, or against friends, in frenetic combat.

Lots of skins and weapons can be collected after long-time play, too.

NEOTAG LEAGUE is up next, and this one looks delightful - a team-based multiplayer game mixing parkour and football, where you play as a robot in a futuristic environment.

Seems like a great mix of Rocket League and the kind of parkour you’d get from an Assassin’s Creed title.

The colour palette on this looks lush, all built from sleek 3D models.

Lastly, you can grab GUNPYRE. An isometric shooter where you use vampyric guns to battle? Sign us up!

This roguelike has you using blood types as ammo as your guns spit bloody bullets, tearing apart enemies.

It’s noted that GUNPYRE “started as an academic project by AIV - Accademia Italiana Videogiochi aimed at adding a production experience to the teaching carried out in the various courses, from the creation of the game concept to commercial publishing”.

It’s worth checking out simply for that.

So, plenty of games to play to keep away the January blues and keep your Steam library topped up with a few gems.
