Upcoming atmospheric horror Pine Harbor has dropped a free demo, and it’s definitely one to keep an eye on if you’re a fan of both the Silent Hill and Fallout franchises.
Last year was undoubtedly a major win for horror fans. Between Alan Wake 2, Dead Island 2, Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, Dredge, Lethal Company, Sons of the Forest, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, there was plenty to enjoy - from big AAAs to surprise indie hits. The line-up for 2024 is looking equally strong, with The Casting of Frank Stone, Alone In The Dark, Little Nightmares 3, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and Silent Hill 2 all on the way. Today though, I’d like to draw your attention to an upcoming indie: Pine Harbor.
Take a look at Pine Harbor in action below.
Developed by Vision Forge Team, Pine Harbor is clearly inspired by Silent Hill. The synopsis reads, “Pine Harbor was a small fishing town on the shores of the North Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by cliffs and dense pine forests, shrouded in thick fog. But everything changed as a result of a technological disaster. Explore the town, help its residents, and delve into the depths of the dark forests.” The idea of emerging into a disaster zone, unaware of what you might find, definitely echoes the Fallout series.

The game is played from a first-person perspective and includes shooter elements. You’ll be tasked with gathering resources and crafting equipment that’ll help you “survive another night”. Creepy. Along the way, you will indeed find other survivors who you can choose to help. It’s in the game’s forests though that you’ll come face to face with the true (and horrific) consequences of this catastrophe.
There’s no set release date for Pine Harbor but a demo is available to sample now on Steam. Try before you buy is the perfect way to see if a game is for you without splashing the cash.
