Starfield players have been warned that one of the game’s latest updates could break their game if they’re not careful.
If you’d forgotten all about Starfield you’d be forgiven, as while the game scored favourably with reviews and has an entire DLC expansion on the way later this year, buzz around the game has gradually dwindled over the last few months.

That being said Bethesda is still working hard to make the game better, and while the majority of its workforce is crafting The Elder Scrolls VI, a decent chunk of developers are still cranking out updates for the company’s latest IP.

Be warned though, the next update for the game could do more harm than good, especially if you’re a fan of mods.
Bethesda has woven the Creation Club into a variety of its recent titles, allowing players to easily install mods without having to mess around with downloads and other arduous tasks, the Creation Club does all of the work for you.
Players on PC and Xbox Series X/S can download and play a variety of approved mods in Starfield, but according to Bethesda itself, the next update will be “removing the ability to upload Creations with altered ini files … resulting in more negative effects than benefits."
Basically Bethesda is trying to get Creation Club to work on Starfield in the same way it did on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which means a large variety of mods will now be unavailable, disastrous if your playthrough has revolved around them.

The worst loss is the 60fps mod for the Xbox Series X/S version of the game, so I’m afraid Xbox players are once again capped at 30fps and there’s nothing they can do about it.
You can read more information on Bethesda’s official channels, but it’s also worth checking your game to see if you’ve been affected by the update.
