The bar has been set incredibly high for Red Dead Redemption 3; we’ve been so spoiled by the previous two games that Rockstar Games is being watched with intense scrutiny.
Fans have already been sent into a frenzy recently, after confirmation that a follow-up to Red Dead Redemption 2 was happening. Not even the lack of timeframe regarding when the title will launch could dampen their spirits.
We're all about that outlaw lifestyle in the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer
There’s also the constant theories over when the next instalment will be set that’s always certain to get the fandom salivating for more details. Currently, the California Gold Rush is the favourite setup amongst fans, however, there’s so much history from that period that there’s much scope to yet be explored or considered.

Now attention is turning to who should be the next lead protagonist, with fans pretty much in agreement that Charles Smith would be an excellent choice. According to the OP on Reddit, "Exploring the Native American angle would be cool” and also “something that's not usually seen in western movies/shows”.
We’re not here to debate whether their argument is sound, only to look at how well received the suggestion was. So behave, you lot.

“I think playing as a Native American would strike a nice balance between innovating the original gritty storytelling while also getting the plus of representation more and more people are demanding these days,” said a fan, before adding, “It would check that box without deviating from the formula.”
Others simply declared their “love” for Rockstar’s Charles, saying he’s a “solid character”. Naturally, there were some fans who thought a “blank slate” with a character we’ve never seen before would be better, but Charles feels like quite a fresh start regardless.
“I would love this, there is so much potential to explore the real historical events, but to keep it in the RDR world would be amazing. It was a tough time for Native people, there is a lot to explore there, especially from the POV of a Native protagonist.”
