Red Dead Redemption 2 honestly has one of the most underrated modding scenes out there.
When the idea of modding a game comes to mind, most people’s thoughts probably drift to the likes of Skyrim, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and Stardew Valley, which is probably why Red Dead Redemption 2’s mods probably don’t get the same kind of love that a lot of other games do.
Some of the work that goes into Red Dead Redemption 2 mods is baffling and kind of underappreciated, which probably has something to do with how polished the game is without them. Kind of hard to one-up Rockstar themselves on a lot of this kind of stuff.

However, it seems one person might have managed to actually outdo them. Character Textures Overhaul is a new mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 from the prolific modder Instanity, which aims (and, frankly, succeeds) to update all of the models for the main cast of the game’s characters.
The page for the mod explains that it uses “completely hand-made edited textures”, and one look at the images on display should easily put a lot of the hard work into context.
They also state on the page for the mod that they’re not “100% done” with it, so keep an eye on this one for any future updates.
This isn’t the first time Instanity has worked on Red Dead Redemption 2 either, as their Chelonia Visuals mod is probably even more impressive than their work on their Character Texture mod.

This one is probably best seen to be believed however, so take a look at the trailer for that mod on Instanity’s YouTube channel.
I wonder if my computer would just explode if I used both of these mods at the same time. I’ll give it a go and keep you all updated.
