Syphon Filter fans begging for a PlayStation 5 revival

We deserve a revival for Syphon Filter already, it's the least Bend Studio could do!

There are numerous games – too many – that are crying out for a revival. Yet, the PlayStation community feels they know one franchise that’s more deserving than the rest, and we’re not displeased with their choice.

The obvious answer is Dino Crisis, but seeing as the possibility of a revival has been put back on the table by Capcom, gamers feel there are other franchises that need a helping hand to reach the heights that Dino Crisis has recently achieved.

Syphon Filter was the first choice for many PlayStation fans when the question of a revival was thrown into the roiling pit of opinions that is Reddit.

It's not a classic (yet), but we're excited to see what Judas will bring to the table when it launches

Bend Studio has teased at a return before, much to the confusion and elation of the fandom; unfortunately, nothing came from that tease. Not that the lack of content has stopped gamers from continuing their (often silent) campaign for the game.

Could its return be likely, though? Some fans believe so, even despite the sporadic radio silence. “Considering their insistence to put every old Syphon Filter game on PS Plus Premium I wouldn't be surprised if this was something Bend was working on.”

It’s true that a lot of classic PS1 titles have been added to the service of late, with Syphon Filter included. Still, despite the appeal of being able to return to an iconic series, it doesn’t make for a stimulating experience for newcomers, nor for returning fans, truth be told. The graphics alone make any playthrough quite hellish, with only the sheer power of nostalgia helping people get through.

This is partly why a revival is necessary. Even more so when we realise that there are some gamers that have never heard of the series at all, which is deeply troubling, while also making us feel ancient. “Every person I speak to about the PlayStation does not remember this game,” revealed a fan. “I loved the series. It really does need a reboot!”

Bend Studio really needs to change the story and show younger gamers what they’ve missed out on, and a revival is the best way to do just that.
