The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake has been on quite a journey since it was first announced back in 2021 but now it seems as though things are finally looking up.
First released back in 2003 as the first entry in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic series, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (or KOTOR as it is informally known) was loved by fans.

That is why it was no surprise when it was revealed it would be getting a remake back in 2021.

However, since the announcement, the project has received quite a few setbacks including delays, rumoured cancellations and even a studio change-up.
When the remake for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was first announced, it was revealed that the development would be headed by Aspyr Media.
However, in August 2022, it was reported that the reins would be handed over to Saber Interactive with Embracer Group, the parent company of both studios, revealing that the change was to "ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title."
However, since this studio change, details have been scarce about the highly-anticipated remake.

That is until now.
Courtesy of Saber Interactive CCO Tim Willits, we now know that the team is “focused on development” and more will be shared “when the time is right”.
Although this offers very little information, it at least confirms that the KOTOR remake has not been cancelled like many fans worried.
"Right now, we are focused on development. We look forward to sharing more when the time is right,” reads the full quote offered to IGN earlier this week.

With the remake set to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, we could hope to see a better update during Sony’s various events.
It is just convenient timing that Sony is set to host a State of Play event later today.
