Red Dead Redemption 2 fans are understandably frustrated at the 60 frames per second update on PlayStation or I should say, lack of.
Released in 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, then the following year on PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of Rockstar Games’ finest offerings placed firmly alongside any entry of the Grand Theft Auto series.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the game released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010 starring John Martson. In Red Dead Redemption 2, we play Arthur Morgan, a trusted member of the Dutch van der Linde gang who we got acquainted with in 2010.

Even when being played on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Red Dead Redemption 2 is not only a fantastic game to play but it still looks absolutely gorgeous. That being said, its performance leaves something to be desired.
For whatever reason, Rockstar Games seems reluctant to release a new-gen patch for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As a result, it’s locked at 30fps.
This is even more baffling because the 2023 re-release of the original Red Dead Redemption received a 60fps update not long after its launch on PlayStation 5. This means that the 2010 game runs at 60fps on PS5 but the 2018 prequel runs at 30fps.
The sceptic in me thinks a reason why Rockstar Games hasn't released a new-gen patch for Red Dead Redemption 2 (at the time of writing) is that maybe it's going to re-release the prequel at some point.

“Will there ever be a 60fps patch for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS5?” asked Redditor Alenspiderman2.

“Maybe, if they’ll re-release the game as a ‘remastered’ gimmick, and charge you $70 for it,” said digitalnovelty.
“As much as I'd love to believe that Rockstar would give us a free 60fps patch for the newer consoles, I absolutely doubt it would do it,” explained Krushhz. “Rockstar knows they can sell the game to us again for $70 and include 60fps and even better graphics and lots of people would pay for it,” they continued.
“Rockstar Games is too focused on GTA… they forgot that RDR2 is the best game it has ever made,” replied Ukezilla_Rah.
“At this point, I’d assume it won’t happen until it does,” SeminolesFan1 responded.

I agree with all the comments above. If Rockstar Games were to release an improved version of Red Dead Redemption 2, it wouldn't be via a free update but instead as a re-release.
Regardless, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still an amazing game with or without 60fps, and we should all play it.
