PlayStation update quietly makes it easier for you to claim free store credit before it's gone

This is very helpful

Launched in 2022, PlayStation Stars is Sony’s rewards scheme that gifts gamers with points that can be spent on free store credit, digital video games and collectables.

To earn points, firstly, all you have to do is download the free PlayStation mobile app and sign up for PlayStation Stars. Once signed up, you will earn points by completing easy campaigns via the mobile app that often require you to play recent PS Plus titles, earn specific in-game trophies or simply make purchases via the PlayStation Store.

Check out the PlayStation Stars trailer below!

Sadly, earlier this month, Sony announced major changes that will have a drastic impact on how we can earn free store credit via PlayStation Stars. In a nutshell, reward points will expire much sooner and with gamers already feeling aggrieved that rewards have been nerfed, going forward, the changes made by Sony will make it much harder to earn freebies with PS Stars.

Thankfully at least, there is a new feature on the PlayStation mobile app that will make it easier for us to keep track of when our points will expire. To keep track of when we’ll lose points, fire up the PlayStation mobile app, and press on the PS Stars icon at the top of the screen.

Then click on where it shows your PS Stars level and current points. Now, scroll down a little and just above where it gives you a breakdown of all your points earned so far, it will let you know if you have any points expiring that month.

It still sucks that we run the risk of losing points more easily, but at least now we get a clear heads-up of when they will expire and it should reduce the risk of missing out on free store credit and/or video games from the PlayStation store. Just make it a habit to check if or when your points will expire at the turn of every new month.
