Video games have the ability to transport us to another world and certainly, part of that is through their storytelling and gameplay.
I’d argue that there’s an additional component though that can be the most powerful of all in eliciting our emotions: a soundtrack.
A game’s soundtrack can truly transform the experience. You need only put a game on mute to see how lifeless it feels without that soundscape pulsing through your speakers.

An incredible soundtrack can make you cry, forewarn you of danger, leave the hairs on your arms standing on edge … move you, essentially.
It’s with all of this in mind that I have a feeling that the newly announced PlayStation The Concert is going to be a colossal success.
ICYMI: Ghost of Yōtei was recently unveiled.
PlayStation The Concert is a new global concert series that’ll see a full orchestra travelling across Europe, the United States, “and beyond”.

The Last of Us, God of War, Horizon, and Ghost of Tsushima are just a few of the games set to be included in the line-up - although Sony has promised appearances from many more.
This isn’t an ordinary concert though.
The “groundbreaking” live music event is set to feature “state-of-the-art production” and “cutting-edge visuals”.
“With innovative technology and world-class production, fans will experience a stunning fusion of multi-layered visuals, immersive surround sound, and an all-star ensemble blending classical and modern instruments,” the PlayStation blog reads.

The concert is “more than just a show”, seeking to be “the ultimate video game concert experience, embodying PlayStation’s innovative spirit and pushing the limits of what’s possible”.
My curiosity is well and truly piqued.
Only European dates are available at the present moment with the concert tour kicking off in Dublin, Ireland, before heading across the UK to Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, and Newcastle.
It’ll then move on to mainland Europe.
