PlayStation Plus may have faced a lot of criticism throughout 2023, but we have to give the service credit where it’s due because it offered $7,500 worth of free video games throughout 2023, many of which are still available.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, PS Plus’ total puts Xbox Game Pass to shame, with Microsoft only offering $5,000 worth of free games, according to The Loadout. This is in stark contrast to TrueAchievement’s claims, which said that Xbox Game Pass offered $9,000 worth of games in 2023.
Don't forget to watch the launch trailer for Time Survivors
We can’t say which source is more reliable, only that it seems someone here is on the losing end of offering the most free games. And considering how much PS needs the win, we’re going to focus on PS first and foremost.
Advert
Let’s face it, PS Plus hasn’t been wowing its users of late, though some gamers have had to admit that the latest free offerings are part of a “banger month”. Nonetheless, while not every batch of free titles has been to everyone’s tastes, Sony has been giving you value for money (as far as hard, cold numbers are concerned, not your personal tastes).
Of course, that value, while an undeniable fact statistically speaking, doesn’t take into account if you play/can access all of the titles included to make up that final number. Consequently, while the service is delivered on the promise of giving you more affordable gaming, it’ll most benefit those who are paying for the highest tier, and who play nearly all the games that are added to the service.
Still, knowing just how blessed we’ve really been with all those freebies, combined with being able to score some free store credit this January, is enough to sing PlayStation’s praises. Granted, it’s limited praise when taking into account everything else that the PS offers, and the fact that Game Pass do a better job with release day titles as part of its service, but you know, a win’s a win.
Now, please excuse us while we go and play through over $7,000 worth of video games using what can only be described as Sonic-like speed.
