Fans are understandably mad after 2K Games announced that WWE 2K22 will be pulled offline on 3 January. Adding to the anger, 2K Games have suggested to players that "Now is the perfect time to upgrade to WWE 2K23."
WWE 2K22 is currently a free game via PlayStation Plus which fans have been playing for some time, investing hours into the different matches via online play, along with the character creator. The idea that the game will no longer be available is causing a lot of upset.
It feels slightly underhanded that in the same social media message that the game will be pulled, the developer and publisher feel it best to suggest that players should upgrade. As one Redditor says, "WWE games are one of the few games where you don't need to upgrade to the latest title. Them doing this is forcing everyone to upgrade to a new game."

They have a point. Unless new iterations bring in new types of matches, much of the content can be enjoyed on older titles. For years, players have been creating new and classic wrestlers within the character creation options, meaning the games often survive on user generated content - a section of the game that will now be unavailable.
Whether fans are playing it via PlayStation Plus, or they paid to own the game, this news is frustrating. Many players are swarming to Reddit to voice their anger. One user said, "I hope people begin to realise 2K is worse than EA." While another echoes the sentiment, "People should really stop trusting 2K sports games."
Summed up succinctly, u/Sammyjskj said, "So, you buy a game for $60 for it to just lose a bit of its content 3 years later (It's actually 2 years, but the point stands). Content that will be forever unavailable. I love the community creations part. This is ridiculous."
