Play this PS Plus game before it’s too late!
If you’re a subscriber to PlayStation Plus, then you might want to check out this free offering before it leaves the service in about a week from now.
This week, the latest horror from Supermassive Games graces us with its presence, with season two of The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020. In case you didn't know, this is from the same developer that also brought us the likes of Until Dawn, The Quarry and more.
While Supermassive Games titles aren't everyone’s cup of tea, when it comes to ‘choose your own adventure’ style games with lush cinematic presentation, not to mention being for fans of horror, the England-based studio pretty much nails the formula.

This week, season two of The Dark Pictures Anthology kicks off with the aforementioned Directive 8020, which takes us into outer space and has major Alien, Event Horizon and Dead Space vibes.
However, before the release of Directive 8020, you might want to check out Little Hope, the second episode, if you will, for season one of The Dark Pictures Anthology, and some might argue, it’s the best of that season.
As brought to our attention by Reddior MackeySasserYips, Little Hope leaves PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium very soon. In fact, it leaves the service on 19 June 2026.
“Little Hope (The Dark Pictures Anthology) is leaving soon. It's worth a play for narrative fans,” they declared.
“YES! I love these games, the opening to Little Hope alone is worth it,” replied FishBones83.
“I play these with my wife. We pick some chars and pass the controller. They are quite fun,” added JN_Polo.
“Man of Medan is my favourite game of the series,” exclaimed Potential-Branch6913. Amazing game.”
Little Hope is based on the infamous Salem and Andover, Massachusetts, witch trials of 1692. In my humble opinion, without giving anything away, it’s the scariest episode of season one.
Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that Man of Medan, the first episode of The Dark Pictures Anthology, is also on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, but it too leaves the service on 19 May 2026.
“Directive 8020 is a near-perfect advancement of Supermassive Games’ tried and tested formula, with added stealth, puzzling, and adventure elements really boosting player agency,” said GAMINGbible’s Kate in her review.
“Outside of a couple of jump scares, the game’s narrative relies on tension and dread compared to The Dark Pictures franchise’s typical brand of horror, but the game is all the richer for this, rooting itself in tangibility and fears that plague us all.”
Directive 8020 will be released tomorrow, on 12 May 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
