PlayStation Plus bonus freebie leaves subscribers baffled

PlayStation Plus bonus freebie leaves subscribers baffled

Can't say I'll ever use this but, thanks, I guess?

PlayStation Plus users are getting treated to a bit of an odd freebie this month, according to an exclusive report.

Thank you in advance to Variety's Jennifer Mass for the original source!

Are you an American PlayStation Plus subscriber who was hoping that Sony would add a random British TV show to the service for free this month?

If you answered yes to that question then congrats, because a TV show that even I, a British man, have never heard of will be landing on PlayStation Plus in less than a week.

“Hailing from Sony Pictures Television’s Eleven Film, “Stags” will premiere in the U.S. on Feb. 11 exclusively for current PlayStation Plus subscribers only via the PS4 and PS5 console’s Sony Pictures Core app,” revealed Variety in an exclusive report.

“The six-episode first season of the series will be available to stream until March 24.”

Absolutely no idea who this is for, and it would seem PlayStation Plus subscribers on Reddit have no idea either.

“Curious what the logic is of a UK-only Paramount+ original getting licensed to PS+ for US subscribers but for a month only,” commented user LooseSeal88, “Why not just put it on US Paramount+?”

“Who asked for this lmao?” replied user Doodlejuice.

I mean hey, free is free I guess, but this is hardly the type of freebie that’s going to inspire me to renew my PlayStation Plus subscription.

Also, based on Variety’s report, it sounds like this is exclusive to America anyway. Seems a bit weird to make a British TV show free in America, but you do you, Sony.

This has just reminded me that I’ve still got that Powers TV show saved on my PlayStation somewhere that I never watched either. I wonder what other weird freebies I’ve redeemed and never watched over the years?
