Other than having a vast library of games to choose from, Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service comes with a whole host of additional benefits.
For example, if you subscribe to the Premium tier you will not only gain access to a curated list of PlayStation titles from yesteryear as well as PS5 and PS4, but also the option to stream games (so no need to download), a selection of movies from PlayStation Core and much more. You will also gain all the benefits included in the PS Plus Essential and Extra tiers.

What’s more, you will also be able to trial a selection of games that range from less than an hour to up to five hours of game time. During this period, you can earn Trophies and any that you earn will crossover into the full purchase along with the saved data. Some Trials include fantastic titles from God of War Ragnarök, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and much more. Another new inclusion in the PlayStation Plus Trials selection is the topic of today’s discussion, Mortal Kombat 1 from NetherRealm Studios.

Released September 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 proved to be one of this year's finest offerings, and that’s saying something considering all the amazing video game releases we’ve had this year. Mortal Kombat 1 offers a fun single-player story campaign, a robust and evolving multiplayer, and much more.
In our review, we said: “Mortal Kombat 1 doesn't do a lot to push its boundaries and largely plays it safe, but it’s still amongst the best entries in this series. Its campaign continues to set the standard once more for its genre, it looks absolutely gorgeous on Xbox Series X|S and it’s packed full of content that will keep fans entertained for years to come.”
So if you subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium and are yet to play Mortal Kombat 1, head on over to the Trials tab in the PS Plus section and download this gloriously gory delight for free.
Mortal Kombat 1 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
