PlayStation’s New Open-World Game is Almost 3 Times Larger Than Skyrim

Thankfully, traversing it is a little bit faster

This new open-world title is absolutely massive, although you’ll probably be zipping across it at such a speed that you won’t even notice.

This brand new PlayStation title has a map that is very, very close to being three times the size of Skyrim’s map– which sounds like it could be somewhat overstimulating, until you realise that you’ll be yeeting yourself across it at 150mph speeds most of the time.

Of course, Xbox owners will have probably already played this one several years ago, considering it’s one of the latest Microsoft-published games to make the jump over to PlayStation.

I am, of course, referring to Forza Horizon 5, which officially received a PlayStation 5 port at the end of April.

If you’re curious how the “three times bigger than Skyrim” maths works, here’s the breakdown.

So, Skyrim’s map is (roughly) 37 square kilometres wide. Wait, is it wide or is it tall? Or is it neither? Eh, never mind.

On the other hand, Forza Horizon 5 clocks in at around 108 square kilometres, which makes it juuuuust shy of three times the size of Skyrim’s map (2.91 times bigger, to be exact).

Obviously, Forza Horizon 5 isn’t going to feel as big by comparison when you’re actually playing the game, as you’ll be driving around the map in a high-performance supercar.

In Skyrim, the only horsepower you’ll have to rely on comes from a REAL horse! Get it? Horsepower? Like in cars? Alright, not my best.

Unfortunately, there isn’t any way to download Forza Horizon 5 through something like PlayStation Plus at the moment, so you’ll have to shell out roughly £55 to experience the game for yourself.

Considering this is a Microsoft-published title, I also really, really doubt it ever will be on PlayStation Plus. We’re lucky enough that the two publishers are releasing games on each other's systems.
