The PlayStation store is getting a new feature, text reviews, though users aren’t convinced it’s a good idea.
Text reviews are a wonderful thing when done right, as it’s quick and easy to see what the majority of players are saying about a game before you buy it.

Notice how I said “when done right” though, as a text review for a game can be made by just about anyone, and while many are fair and reasonable praise/criticisms of a game, many take it as an opportunity to have a laugh.

Currently Xbox and Steam allow users to leave reviews on software, and potentially joining the fray is PlayStation which is currently letting a select few test it out before it’s delivered to the masses.
Users have mixed opinions on whether this is a good idea, with the aforementioned “meme” reviews being the main concern.
In a Reddit thread talking about the feature, one user said, “I hope this won't have the same fate as Steam reviews. Having to scroll multiple pages of 'funny' reviews until you get something useful, was very tiring.”
One user questioned the point of adding reviews at all, as many are “relatively useless and hardly informative” since they’re not coming from actual critics.

However some users are down to see it implemented though, with some saying if they add that as well as “the ability to gift games directly via the store,” it’d be a win for PlayStation.
At the time of writing, text reviews are still being tested by PlayStation, so there’s no guarantee that they’ll be added to the store for everyone.
If they are, it'll need some serious moderation to keep them on topic and not opportunities to poke fun at various games or business practices.
