If you need a reminder on the importance of keeping an eye on your PlayStation Stars account, this is it.
As I’m sure most of you are aware, PlayStation Stars is Sony’s rewards service for PlayStation users.
Those signed up earn points via purchases made on the PS Store as well as via easy-to-complete campaigns that usually task you with loading up certain games, many of these being available on PlayStation Plus.

You used to earn points on PlayStation Plus subscriptions too, but that’s being phased out.
When you reach 1,250 points, you can nab £5 worth of store credit.
So too can you acquire digital collectibles, DLC, in-game currency, and full-length games but the store credit is by far the better deal.
It may take you a while to get there, especially if you’re someone who favours physical purchases over digital games, but eventually, you’ll be able to nab that free store credit.

Many of us, I’m sure, are fully aware of the points we’ve accrued.
If you’re sitting there thinking, ‘I don’t even recall the last time I looked at PlayStation Stars’ though, let the following tale be your advisory notice to change that.
ICYMI: Astro Bot is out now. Take a look at the game in action below.
Reddit user LilBigJP took to the site to share the following: “Unknowingly accumulated 25K points, and pre-ordered the new Life is Strange [Double Exposure] Ultimate Edition ($80) for free.”

It goes without saying that not all of us are going to quite have that number of points unknowingly hiding in our accounts, but I’m sure there’s more than a few of you with enough to redeem some credit.
It’s an extreme case study but it goes to show, it’s well worth having a luck to see what you have.
“Nice man. Just like finding money you forgot about,” replied thespectacularjoe.
“Thanks for the reminder! 11K points just SITTING,” added TGrim20.

“Bruh, I've spent an insane amount on the PS Store since the PS5 released and had no idea PlayStation Stars even existed,” wrote Iainm052.
See? Checking your balance is an obvious to-do for some, but clearly not for all.
