PlayStation drops free download to celebrate new release

Not every treat is a trick

As a gift from PlayStation to its players, a free download is available to mark the upcoming launch of a new game.

Well, we say new, but it’s also an old favourite as well.

This Friday isn’t just the 4 October, it’s also the launch day for the Until Dawn remake.

I doubt anyone reading this is wondering why a remake is needed; after all, the original is arguably one of the best interactive horror games we've had for years.

Despite still being a fine looking game, the 2015 title is a bit janky around the edges now. That’s what growing nine years older will do to you.

Spooky season starts with Until Dawn

Hence a remake.

Not only will the game be visually enhanced, but there’s also the promise of new additional content to help make the experience feel as thrilling as the very first time you played.

We’re already pumped here at GAMINGbible, and look forward to seeing who we save and who we accidentally let perish.

In the meantime, we need something to show our ever-growing excitement as launch day draws near.

Fortunately for us, PlayStation has dropped a surprise free download.

This download is but a small gift from Sony, yet it’s one that’s perfectly timed now that spooky season has officially got underway.

To show your appreciation of the supernatural, and teenagers scared witless while trapped up a snowy mountain, you can decorate your phone with a new Until Dawn wallpaper.

The iconic skull hourglass dominates the image, with each of the characters in silhouette as the sands of time start to run out for them.

While some are disgruntled at having to pay full price for the new remake, other fans are happy to see such a legendary experience reborn.

“LOVE this game! One of my favourite games of all time and not even exaggerating. Thanks PlayStation!” said Twitter user Will M.

Another remarked, “Oh I’m so here for some wallpapers. Do this more often.”

What can we say, we’re suckers for a spooky mobile phone wallpaper, especially when it’s for such a memorable game.

It’s only a matter of days until your skills will be put to the test. Eight teenagers will begin this journey, but how many will survive?
