Has the sound through your DualSense sounded tinny? Does the power indicator light feel a tad too bright? These issues and a few others have been addressed in the new system update for the PlayStation 5.
The update was announced far and wide on socials, but to a mixed response from PlayStation gamers; it seems not everything Sony is offering in this update is to their liking. Then again, we’re a little concerned the improved DualSense audio will upset our very own Ewan Moore, now that Rebirth’s Chadley can talk clearly to him.
No one else has voiced their worries over that very specific problem, however, some players have commented on the lack of themes. If you’re a sworn Xbox fan instead of PlayStation, you can sit smugly while reading this, as you already have access to themes to personalise your console. PS players do not.

One post was a gif of a skeleton dropping to the floor, with the caption “Still no themes”. This was followed by an even shorter post that simply read “THEMES” in all caps; that’s one way of voicing your dissatisfaction.
Another addition that’s going to divide fans is the use of “share screen interactions and emojis”. Essentially, those watching a screen share of the action can show their approval (or not) to the host. It sounds great in theory, but I feel it could get annoying very fast, even when playing with trusted friends.
Can you brave being Alone in the Dark?
Trawling the comments of the post so far, you’ll note that few people are happy with this update. It feels almost fitting that that’s the reaction, considering the tumultuous time PlayStation is having currently. The only really good news we’ve had of late, is that PS5’s top game is an Xbox exclusive, seemingly bringing an end to the console wars. It’s about damn time!
