If you’re a classic gamer, this hidden PlayStation feature is going to pique your interest.
We may think we know everything there is to know about the PlayStation 5, but we’re wrong.
There’s actually a hidden feature we’ve never noticed before simply because we believed it didn’t exist.

Thanks to YouTuber Lowest Logan, we now realise how naive we've all been.
As per a video they shared, Lowest Logan has apparently found a way to play PS3 titles on the PS5.

Considering how difficult it is to sometimes play PS4 experiences, it almost sounds too good to be true.

Yet, in their video ‘Ran PS3 Games on PS5 Silicon to Prove Sony Wrong’, Lowest Logan shows us that it is possible.
I won’t pretend to be tech savvy – I can do the basics, but this kind of experimentation goes over my head.
Still, for those of you who understand the inner workings of the PS5, and how to use said knowledge to your advantage, this video is a guide on how to unlock PS3 emulation.
While this may not be surprising to some of you, we have to admit we’re looking at our console in a whole new way.

According to @ak-t7d6f, Sony has neglected this feature because it “doesn't see it making much money”.
But that doesn’t feel quite right considering how many of us play games simply for nostalgia.
If nothing else, discovering this hidden feature further emphasises how underutilised certain aspects of the PS5 are.
“All of this serves to prove that practically PS5 hardware could just be turned to using any OS and run games well on it if it weren't for the proprietary lockdown of the system,” @crisscrossam.

We’d like to think that this YouTuber has simply uncovered a feature that factors into Sony’s future plans for introducing PS3 titles back into the mix.
For better or worse, we’re holding out for that.
