Whatever it is that you spend your hard-earned money on, we must look after our goodies, especially when it comes to an expensive PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch.
It doesn't matter what system you play on, it’s important that we look after our luxury items and every month or so, I’d always strongly recommend giving the likes of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S a good spring clean.
Check out the new smaller PlayStation 5 console below.
However, there are other ways to look after your PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, such as making sure they’re placed in an area that’s well-ventilated to reduce the chances of overheating. As for the PlayStation 5, it’s also important to use the stand that is provided in the box of the original console (it’s an additional purchase with the new smaller PS5).

“I'm super excited because I've just ordered a new PS5,” announced Reddit oldschoolfellow. “As a newcomer in the gaming world, I'd really appreciate some expert advice to help me get started.” As expected, fellow users on the thread were at hand to share some helpful tips, such as the importance of using the PS5 stand provided.
“Use the stand. It doesn't matter if you place it horizontally or vertically. Use the stand,” said bicuspid_fish. “I don't get how people just decide not to use it. It comes with a stand and it seems like common sense to put the console on it. The idea of not using it has never crossed my mind,” replied Prusyakish.
To much surprise, there were a lot of users that have never used the stand provided which could result in several issues. For starters, it helps the console be a little more ventilated whether it's placed vertically or horizontally and it ensures that the console remains stable reducing the chances of it toppling over.
Then for the disc version of the PlayStation 5, if placed horizontally, the stand makes sure that the disc in the console is level which will also reduce the chances of internal damage to the console as well as reduce the risk of scratching the disc.

So if there are lessons to be learned, keep your console ventilated, give it a spring clean and use the PlayStation 5 stand provided, if you have one.
