With Easter rapidly approaching, it’s highly likely that many of us will find ourselves with a couple of extra days away from school or work very soon.
What you choose to do with that time is completely up to you but should you be looking to settle down with a brand new game, I have just the recommendation for PlayStation 5 owners.
DC Universe Online has just landed on PS5 consoles and the best part is that it’s completely free-to-play.

If you’re sitting there thinking, Kate, I swear I’ve already played DCUO on my PlayStation 5? Well, that’s very much a possibility.
Previously, the game was made available on PlayStation 4 consoles and that version could be played on the PS5 via backwards compatibility but this brand new version is totally native to the PlayStation 5, giving it an overall nice little boost to performance across the board.
ICYMI: Superhero fans are going to want to keep their eyes on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
As specified by the DCUO team, the new native PS5 version of the game will allow you to enjoy “faster load times, smoother transitions, and higher frame rates”. Three very desirable things.

It goes without saying that you can download the game from the PlayStation Store - and oh, did I mention that the PS5 version also runs at a lovely 4K?
If you already have the PlayStation 4 version, your characters, account, and purchases will carry over to the PS5 edition as these are linked to your PlayStation account and not the game itself.
For those of you who are completely new to DC Universe Online, it’s essentially an action MMORPG set within the DC universe.
You’re able to pick a side of ‘Hero’ or ‘Villain’ before facing off against some very familiar DC Universe faces.

These story-driven adventures feature “fast-paced” combat sequences and amidst the fighting, you can explore iconic locations from Gotham City to Metropolis.
Over on Metacritic, DCUO has a Metascore of 67 alongside a User Score of 7.3 so while it might not be the greatest release known to mankind, there is still definitely fun to be had here - and if it’s free, there’s no reason really not to give it a go.
