There’s a new free-to-play game taking the world by storm. It’s a team-based FPS that pits you against other teams in a game show setting, with destructible materials and heist-style gameplay.
The Finals has been grabbing hold of players and not letting go. The game has been performing incredibly on Steam, and has now been released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. At the time of writing this, The Finals has over 117K players on Steam alone and it peaked at over 242K just after launch.
PlayStation recently launched Cloud Streaming for all Premium PlayStation Plus subscribers
Controlling a personalised avatar, you must work with your team to earn riches and accolades. Utilising special abilities and equipment you’ll tour through destructible arenas based on real-world locations such as Monaco and Las Vegas, to scoop a cash prize within the level. It’s up to your team to use any means to secure the bag before anyone else can.

The game page explains more, “Use moving platforms, pocket walls, ziplines, jump pads, and more to create treacherous and unforgettable moments. Take out your enemies with garbage cans and flowerpots, office chairs, and hospital beds. Only your imagination sets the limits.”
The Finals is a fast-paced and chaotic game, completely free-to-play. I’ve dipped in and played a few games and it’s a riot. The pacing and tempo of each round are unbelievably fast, forcing you to rely on instincts once the round starts. While it is better to play with friends or use a microphone to coordinate your moves, you can hop in and play and not miss out on too much.
Perhaps the best feature is the ever-changing world around you where “You’ll face unpredictable weather, day-and-night cycles, and sudden World Events that shake the very foundation of the Virtual Arena. Like Orbital Lasers that instantly kill campers.” The success of the game already has the developers moving quickly to keep up with the player base, so The Finals should be around for a while.
