It is hard to believe that it is already coming up to a year since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swung onto the PlayStation 5.
That is why it is perhaps unsurprising that rumours of the third instalment are already appearing and fans are eager to hear if it will be a full game or another DLC.
Check out our gameplay preview for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 below!
Kicking off in 2018 with Marvel’s Spider-Man, the action-adventure series by Insomniac Games was soon followed by an expansion, a remaster and spin-off in the form of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

In October 2023, fans of the web-slinging hero were treated yet again with the arrival of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which saw both Peter Parker and Miles Morales team up to fight some infamous enemies.
Now almost a year on and a recent job listing has appeared which could be hinting at a potential third entry.
This news comes courtesy of a post over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours where one person posted:
“Insomniac Starts Hiring for Next Open-World Game”.

Listed on Greenhouse, it appears as though Insomniac is on the search for a Senior Gameplay Animator.
The applicant must focus on gameplay responsibilities which includes “hero traversal, combat, boss, mission and open world animations at the highest level using advanced skills in game engine tools.”
With one requirement being “hero traversal”, we can only imagine that this is related to the Marvel’s Spider-Man series.
However, it is unclear if this is the potential third entry or a DLC.

If it is the third entry, however, we could see the game released just in time to head to the PlayStation 6.
That being said, Insomniac is also reportedly working on some other titles such as a Wolverine and X-Men dedicated game.
Additionally, a Venom-related DLC has also been rumoured for a 2025 release in the past.
With no confirmation from the studio, we can only guess but it is exciting to see that the team is hard at work behind the scenes, no matter what the project may be.
