The Last Of Us Part 3 fans divided over new trailer

The Last of Us Part III fans are divided over a new trailer released for the new IP from Naughty Dog.

Sony developer Naughty Dog has a seal of approval after releasing a consistent quality of PlayStation titles over the years. Fans will hope that Naughty Dog will continue its trend following the latest announcement at The Game Awards.

We know that the arrival of The Last of Us Part III is very likely, after all, Naughty Dog chief Neil Druckmann has teased as much. As for a new Uncharted game, that future is much more unclear at this time.

Ever since the release of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune for the PS3 in 2007, we’ve had a new release for every console generation, well, almost. As it stands, it’s looking likely that the PS5 will be the first Sony console to not have a new Uncharted game for its generation, which would be a damn shame.

The new Naughty Dog game announced at The Game Awards is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet which will star Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, You and the Uncharted movie) as the lead protagonist.

So, what of the already teased The Last of Us Part III, will that be arriving anytime soon? After all, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has been in development for an estimated four years and Naughty Dog might not leave much time to work on the next adventures of Ellie and Abby.

“The Last of Us Part III is years away if it’s even coming at all,” claimed Reddit user anonymousUTguy. “Don’t get me wrong, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet looks interesting enough.”

“However, Naughty Dog’s new IP is probably out no earlier than 2026. Then TLOU3, if they decide to make it, won’t be out until maybe 2032,” they continued.

Personally, I don’t think there’s much to worry about. It’s not uncommon for studios to work on multiple projects, especially for one as big as Naughty Dog. Also, The Last of Us Part II left on a cliffhanger and this series prints money, so it would be surprising if we did not get Part III.

Furthermore, Neil Druckmann has previously teased that The Last of Us has one more chapter in it. So perhaps the question shouldn't be ‘Are we getting a new game?’ but instead, ‘When will we get a new game?’

“Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be great I'm sure, it's still Naughty Dog, and TLOU3 will released in the early 2030s, as we've been predicting,” replied m_se_ with Shameer2405 adding “I won't be surprised if it releases during the first few years of the PS6's life cycle.”

“The Last of Us is a huge IP and will be released for the next-gen PlayStation, which isn’t coming for at least three more years based on rumours. It was never coming before that,” predicts glamourbuss.

At the time of writing, neither Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet or The Last of Us Part III have release dates.
