Despite the controversy that the rumour of a potential Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster has caused over the past week, it seems as though the discourse is about to get a whole lot louder as it has now been confirmed.
First released in 2017 with its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West following in 2022, Horizon Zero Dawn is a PlayStation exclusive developed by Guerrilla Games.
Now seven years on from release and Sony has revealed that it will be the next PlayStation IP to receive a remaster in tonight’s State of Play event.

However, with the title not even celebrating its ten-year anniversary, the gaming community has left feeling confused as to why Horizon Zero Dawn is eligible for a remaster.
Regardless of how you feel about the robot-hunting title, there is no denying that it is already a stunning open-world game and other than a slight update to its visuals, a remaster is not expected to change much.
In comparison, titles such as Bloodborne (yes, I went there) have still received no news of a remaster despite the FromSoftware title first launching in 2015 for the PlayStation 4.
Not only that but Horizon Zero Dawn also received an update three years ago which saw the original PlayStation 4 version get a much-needed boost for the PlayStation 5.

Additionally, the game has always been stunning on PC since receiving its port in August 2020.
However, despite many complaints from the PlayStation fanbase, it seems as though Sony is going ahead anyway as we now know that a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster is on the way on 31 October 2024.
It will come with the standard visual upgrades expected from a remaster as well as ten hours of re-recorded dialogue.
Those who already own Horizon Zero Dawn for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will be able to upgrade their edition for $9.99.

With the PlayStation 5 Pro expected to launch in November, this will be the perfect time for this remaster but with many gamers unhappy, it remains to be seen how sales will do.
