Hogwarts Legacy fans are really going through it and honestly, this latest free gift may just make the entire situation worse.
It’s no secret that Hogwarts Legacy was the best selling new release of 2023.
It’s with that in mind that plenty of us assumed that the title would receive a generous amount of post-launch content, whether that be in the form of free updates or paid DLC.
You can imagine fans’ colossal disappointment when the game’s first (and only) major update launched more than a year after release bringing only a photo mode and a few cosmetics.

PC players have since received official modding support, but it’s a far cry from the additional quests, companion system, and extended minigames many players have been yearning for.
Eventually, whispers arose claiming that Avalanche Software’s lack of post-launch content was due to a director’s or extended cut of Hogwarts Legacy being in the works.
That restored fans’ faith, only for it to be dashed months later when an insider claimed that both the director’s cut and a paid DLC had been cancelled, with devs instead now working on a sequel.
Honestly, I don’t understand the decision making myself; this is a cash cow and you’re pulling the plug on a paid DLC?

It’s going to be a long while before a sequel is ready to launch so you can see why I said Hogwarts Legacy fans are going through it.
It’s precisely for this reason that I don’t think this new free gift is going to offer any consolation.
Regardless, Hogwarts Legacy fans can now download and redeem a Hogwarts Legacy PSN icon as a part of PlayStation Plus’ ongoing 15th anniversary celebrations.
The icon features a cloaked witch or wizard riding a hippogriff over Hogwarts, overlaid on a PlayStation Plus logo.
