It’s a very exciting day in the PlayStation Plus calendar. In just a few hours, the subscription service’s latest essential tier line-up will be unveiled.

Before then though, allow me to impart a recommendation. While the essential tier provides us with a selection of three to four games per month to enjoy, the extra and premium tiers grant access to vast catalogues.

As such, it can be hard to know what to play next - the amount of choice proving to be oftentimes overwhelming.

It just so happens that the PlayStation Plus community is often on hand to help during such deliberations with the latest recommendation being that those who enjoy the God of War franchise should check out Darksiders - something I can concur.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns landed on the extra tier during the latest game drop. Take a look at the game in action below.

There are currently two Darksiders titles available on PlayStation Plus’ extra tier: Darksiders Genesis and Darksiders III. Darksiders Warmastered Edition is then available for premium users to enjoy.

Reddit user thrillnyte was the first to make the suggestion. “How have I never played Darksiders?” they wrote.

“I've had much more fun with this than with most modern games. Large variety of gameplay, hack-and-slay is more than just pushing a button, puzzles are fun and require some thinking without characters giving you clues.”

They continued, “The game started off as a God of War clone, then turned into Zelda with Metroidvania elements, giving you several items to progress. In the end, you even get a portal gun. I loved it. Simple yet complex, just pure fun.” A solid review.

A blend of God of War and The Legend of Zelda certainly sounds enticing, doesn’t it?

“It’s great. I liked all three. Can often be bought for super cheap,” replied redditloginfail while JorgeG710 added, “It's one of my favourite series of all time. Especially 1 and 2. War and Death are such great characters.”

Join us later today to find out which titles will soon become available for essential subscribers to nab during April.
