PlayStation Plus users can now pick up a beloved free RPG, which will take you around 60 hours to complete.

If you're a fan of long games, PlayStation Plus has quite a lot of major releases available for free that'll suck up all of your free time.

From Assassin's Creed to the Yakuza series, you've got plenty of options when choosing the next RPG that'll take over your life for the next few months.

As announced last week, PlayStation Plus users can now access a beloved RPG from 2023 that had a rather mixed reception at the time.

Final Fantasy XVI is now part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, marking the first time a Final Fantasy game has been added to Sony's all-you-can-play service in years.

If you've never played this game but are a fan of the series, it's a good chance to catch up while you wait for Final Fantasy Revelation.

On the other hand, if you're a big fan of the franchise and Final Fantasy XVI in particular, it'll be a good chance to discuss the game with more people who are just getting around to it.

Final Fantasy XVI is divisive for some reasons, the main one being that it takes a more action-oriented approach compared to previous Final Fantasy entries.

Some weren't a fan, but I'd argue it's what makes Final Fantasy XVI a pretty fantastic step forward for the series, which had previously been working towards being more of an action RPG than a traditional mix of turn-based and time-based real-time combat.

Final Fantasy XVI Could Take You Up To 60 Hours To Beat

What's more, if you're looking for a bit of a time sink, Final Fantasy XVI is the perfect game to keep you occupied for months on end.

According to How Long To Beat, a website which tracks completion times for video games across a variety of different playstyles, Final Fantasy XVI will take you several dozen hours to finish.

If you're just chasing the main story, you should be able to clear it in 38 hours. If you like to play the main story plus a little extra side content, it'll take you just shy of 60 hours to complete.

Meanwhile, those who strive to finish everything a game has to offer should expect to spend around 82 hours in Final Fantasy XVI.

As How Long To Beat rather handily points out, if you played the game for 90 minutes a day and focused on some side content, it'd take you around six weeks to finish.

In our own Final Fantasy XVI review from 2023, our own Richard Breslin said that "Final Fantasy XVI is truly an epic adventure. It has a fantastical story, over-the-top character performances, a sublime soundtrack, epic boss battles, and it looks gorgeous to boot. Seriously, what’s not to love about this game? It doesn't matter if you’re a veteran of the series or a newcomer like me, Final Fantasy XVI is one of 2023’s most brilliantly extravagant adventures and a sure-fire contender for Game of the Year."

Final Fantasy XVI is available on PlayStation Plus Extra now for PS5 users.
