‘Day One’ launches aren’t as common on PlayStation Plus as they are on Xbox Game Pass.

That being said, PlayStation’s subscription service does drop a handful of eligible titles a year.

This year is yet to deliver us any brand new releases but two have already been confirmed for the coming months.

One of those, Runescape: Dragonwilds, was confirmed for the window of fall during a recent State of Play.

Well, if you tuned into Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest a couple of days ago, you’ll have caught that Jagex followed up their State of Play reveal by dropping Runescape: Dragonwilds’ release date.

The title is officially set to be ours on 15 September, so mark your calendars PlayStation Plus users; on that date, the RPG will drop on the service’s Extra tier, which means it’ll also be available to Premium subscribers.

Unfortunately, this one won’t be available for Essential tier users.

The Main Story Should Keep You Busy For Over 20 Hours

Runescape: Dragonwilds is a spiritual successor of the acclaimed Runescape you likely played on your browser many years ago.

Set on the forgotten continent of Ashenfall, it takes place in a world where dragons have awoken.

Players will explore, build, fight, craft and more in this co-operative adventure which features plenty of survival elements.

“Only by mastering survival and uncovering ancient secrets can you hope to face the ferocious Dragon Queen,” devs tease.

The game’s progression is built upon the classic RPG formula so the more you fight and explore, the more XP you gain and skills you unlock.

Levelling up your character will net you an array of new abilities and spells which, in turn, means you’ll be able to fight off higher powered enemies.

Runescape: Dragonwilds features the return of iconic franchise enemies like Zogres and Black Knights, while introducing new foes like the “fearsome Garou”.

As you might’ve guessed above, your ultimate goal is to defeat the Dragon Queen.

“Your progress will be under constant threat from the looming shadow of the Dragons, as you arm yourself and prepare to rise to face them,” the synopsis reads.

“Follow the trail of destruction and uncover the mysteries of the continent to learn not just how to confront the dragons, but how to overcome them.

“Prepare potions, craft gear and push yourself to do battle with the most powerful force on the continent.”

Runescape: Dragonwilds has been available on PC for some time with its 15 September launch marking its move to consoles; on PC, it also signals the game’s departure from early access.

Over on Steam, it sits at a 81% approval rating (correct at the time of writing), with players praising the “insane amount of potential” and “creative” magic system.

In case you missed it, Big Walk is the other title day one title confirmed for PlayStation Plus so far this year.

This one will be dropping on the Essential tier. It’s an indie co-op multiplayer adventure where you basically hang out with friends as you navigate an intriguing open-world.

It looks charming although no precise release date has yet been set.
