If you enjoy the gameplay loop of No Man’s Sky but have always dreamt about blending it with the dark sci-fi feel of a franchise like BioShock, then you’re in the right place.
Okay, fine. That’s a pretty unusual want to have, mainly as it’s so specific, but you can’t deny that it sounds like a pretty tempting concoction.
If you’re nodding your head in agreement, then you’re likely going to want to check out PlayStation’s new little treat for fans.

Forever Skies is an upcoming sci-fi survival sim that’s set to land on PlayStation 5 consoles in 2025 but ahead of the game’s release, a new demo has launched - and it’s totally free to try.
Take a look at the trailer for Forever Skies below.
Essentially, Forever Skies tasks players with building, flying, and customising their own mobile airship.

“When a perpetual toxic dust cloud enveloped the surface of the Earth following an ecological disaster, humanity made a last-ditch stand by relocating to makeshift towers that rose above the dust layer, relying on airships to move around,” the synopsis reads.
“When all hope was lost, the last remnants of humanity fled into orbit. You play as a scientist from this last pocket of civilization, sent back to Earth on a crucial mission to find a cure for an illness spreading throughout the space station that houses the last of humanity.”
The demo lasts for around 90 to 150 minutes, introducing you to the game’s key mechanics.
You’ll crash land on Earth and begin scavenging for supplies, getting your airship ready to once again take to the skies.

Of course, it’s a rather hostile situation you’ve found yourself in so such a task won’t be easy.
Forever Skies is a multi-platform release but this demo has been made with the PS5 in mind, making use of the DualSense’s haptic feedback.
There’s also a unique in-game reward.
Those who complete the demo, including all objectives, will earn a PlayStation-exclusive airship that’ll carry over when the full game launches.

It’s well worth giving this one a go ahead of its early 2025 launch.
