A new Batman game is reportedly in the works, much to the delight of fans. However, it might not be available to everyone.

Being able to play a new Batman adventure is like a dream come true for DC fans.

Yet, hopes that it’ll be cross-play seem to have been already dashed thanks to an industry insider.

When Twitter account The Game Awards asked its followers to name their “dream game developer” to handle a new Batman experience, console exclusives soon became a topic of discussion.

All thanks to fellow Twitter user @Shpeshal_Nick.

They claim, “Not sure which studio people’s dream is, but I heard Rocksteady are back making it. I also think Sony is trying to money hat it lol.”

Naturally, such a post is going to garner interest from gamers, and thus a discussion about the possibility of a Sony exclusive began.

“I'll believe it when I see it...” responded Jakejames Lugo before adding, “And hopefully it's not a VR game.”

Someone else wondered if it was a remaster of Arkham Origins rather than a brand-new game, to which the OP seemed confused why it couldn’t be a new adventure.

To this @SultanPSN said, “Just thought after what happened with the Suicide Squad they were in deep trouble and that they’re gonna work on whatever projects that were available.”

A fair assumption given how badly Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League bombed.

Elsewhere, others simply don’t believe Sony will opt for an exclusive, especially with how often Xbox attempts to pip its competitor to the post.

“Every time a rumour goes around that Sony wants to money hat something Microsoft comes in to buy them, I’m just saying,” argued Robert Garcia.

With only speculation to fuel the discussion, there will be no answers until a publisher comes forward and explains the situation.

And the likelihood of that happening any time soon is minimal.

The next Batman could be an exclusive though, so be mindful of that while you watch the discourse unfold.
