If there ever comes a time when we turn down remasters of Tomb Raider, something is very wrong with the gaming community. We especially enjoy remasters if we don’t have to spend a single penny; we’re cheapskates, we know.
Don’t get us wrong, we’ve enjoyed firing up the remastered originals so that we can lock Lara’s butler in the freezer. However, there’s a large, undeniable element of predictability about these official remasters – we know what’s in store for us.

Even when the dreaded flood of nude mods happened, we’d expected it to happen, though perhaps not as quickly as it did. Consequently, being able to play a free version of OG Tomb Raider, with both the known and unknown mixed in, is something that piques our interest greatly.

This isn't a remake that’s going to wow fans because of its incredible graphics, but it is a remake that captures the “original vibe” much better than other remakes we’ve seen. Lara is also a lot less blocky than veteran players will remember, which is a vast improvement we can all agree on.
Still, while this free remake is worth checking out, we don’t want to take away from the impact Tomb Raider I-III Remastered has had; it’s been so popular that more remakes are on the way. It’ll surprise no one to learn that fans believe Tomb Raider 4: The Last Revelation will be remade next; an instalment that sets us up for the dramatic story of Angel of Darkness, arguably one of the best games in the franchise.
Unfortunately, such a remake is a long way off, meaning we need other ways to fill our time so we can scratch that Tomb Raider itch more easily. Sure, we could pay for that, but we can also download experiences for free.
