Already, next year is looking stacked when it comes to game releases.
Naturally, GTA VI is the year’s big headliner, but it’s far from being the only highly anticipated release.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Avowed, Monster Hunter Wilds, Atomfall, Borderlands 4, Crimson Desert, Little Nightmares III, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Ghost of Yōtei, and Pokémon Legends Z-A are just a few of the year’s potential hits.

Personally, I am counting down the hours until Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is in my hands.
Today though, I’d like to highlight another game you should perhaps be keeping an eye on, particularly if you’re a PC user.
More so if you’re a PC user who enjoys the likes of Elden Ring and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Let me introduce you to Soulframe which has confirmed a 2025 release window.

Take a look at Soulframe in action below.
When I first saw Soulframe, it very much reminded me of Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke, so I’ll throw that in as a bonus comparison.
Developed by Digital Extremes, Soulframe is an upcoming free-to-play RPG where players will traverse an enormous open-world, accompanied by a wolf companion.

“Washed ashore on the northern isle of Midrath, a new adventure begins. Omen beasts in Ode’n chain bellow in mourning. The voicing trees sag ‘long tortured streams. The worldflesh of Alca splits with rage,” a cryptic synopsis teases.
“Who will find the Silvern Seas and awaken our Ancestors? Who will learn the melodies of soul unbinding, and break the gaunting spellsong? Who will hold in their heart the wanderers, the wild, the world? You will, Envoy.”
There’s still much we don’t know about the game, but it has recently been confirmed that players will be able to team-up in co-op, with Soulframe having a major focus in its story on players restoring the game’s world.
My Princess Mononoke comparison is actually bang on - a point to me - as devs previously confirmed the inspiration in a press release.

“With Soulframe’s worldbuilding and thematic elements, we are really looking to go back to our childhood favourites like NeverEnding Story and those elaborate fantasy worlds,” it read.
“Our team has a fond love for Miyazaki and Princess Mononoke where there is this idea of nature and humanity colliding and we’ll be exploring a lot of themes around nature, restoration, and exploration in this new title.”
Soulframe hasn’t confirmed a release date beyond a vague 2025, and there isn’t even a Steam page for you to wishlist the title yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye on its development.
