The Witcher 3: Let There Be Light Is A Huge, Free New 'Expansion'

It keeps getting better!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets a huge free expansion, making it one of the best RPGs ever, somehow even better, and best of all, it’s available to download right now.

Originally released in 2015 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is widely considered to be one of the best video games of all time, as reflected by its 92 score on the aggregate website, Metacritic, earning the “Must-Play” accolade.

To put things into perspective on how good this game is, I’d argue that many fans who love The Witcher 3 had never played either of the two games that came before. Many may have been introduced to Geralt of Rivia with The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in 2011.

“You are Geralt of Rivia, mercenary monster slayer. Before you stands a war-torn, monster-infested continent you can explore at will,” reads the synopsis of the game. “Your current contract? Tracking down Ciri — the Child of Prophecy, a living weapon that can alter the shape of the world.”

The Witcher 3 would become an even better experience, thanks to the officially released free new-gen update, which not only improved visuals and performance but also added a ton of new content.

Now, as reported by DSOgaming, while we wait for the arrival of The Witcher 4 (which could be years away at this point), dedicated fans have helped take The Witcher 3 to a new level of epicness by releasing a free expansion-sized mod.

The mod in question is called ‘Let There Be Light’, which is said to be about 400 hours in the making, was created by Nikita, and it’s available via Nexusmods.

Taking us back to the Steven Cats Inn, the mod adds new story quests, as well as new characters to interact with that include new dialogue, enemies to slay, custom camera angles, a new area and even throws in multiple endings for good measure.

That being said, the modder notes that you will need to reach level 30 to play ‘Let There Be Light’. You’ll also need to own both of The Witcher 3’s official expansions, Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone.

The mod will not work on the “legacy” version of the game. So please keep all of that in mind. Oh, and as is the case with most mods, this is a PC exclusive.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
