If you’ve already played The Witcher 3 you’ll be aware of just how much stuff there is to do. If you’re not distracted by Gwent and several side quests, the story itself takes many hours.
This bevy of riches doesn’t stop ambitious modders and community creators from stuffing even more under the hood and giving superfans more to do in their favourite game.
More RPG and fantasy fun will be waiting in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
This latest fan expansion, Tales of the Witcher, aims to do just that.

Using the REDkit toolset provided by CD Projekt Red themselves, the modder has been able to create something that will feel familiar, yet brand-new.
The expansion starts with Geralt arriving in Cintra, which comes well before the events we’ve seen in previous games, of even the books.
There’s a new story, a new world to roam, and plenty of contracts to take on and solve.
While only a prologue is available right now, covering the first two chapters, it does give a good look at what’s to come.

Hopefully, there won’t be too long to wait in between updates as the REDkit has significantly improved the modding capabilities of the community.
It’s all very much a work in progress, but the foundations are great and there’s an extensive plan to bring more and more to the expansion over time.
An interesting feature of the expansion is the lack of a map or quest markers, which is apparently intentional.
This gives the player a better sense of urgency and ownership of their journey across this new world.
Advert
Without paying attention to conversations with NPCs or notes found throughout villages, you won’t have much of a clue on where to explore.
This very much sounds like an old-school RPG experience that will put the onus on players to track their progress.
If this sounds like your cup of tea and you want more hours to while away in The Witcher 3, then keep an eye on this one.
