This Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mod overhauls the Whispering Door questline with new content, greater stakes, another ending and even some new voicelines.

We’ve seen plenty of overhaul mods for Skyrim over the years, whether it be switching up the graphics and textures, adding new quests or entire island expansions to explore, there’s not a lot Skyrim modders can’t do.

Hopefully the same can be said when The Elder Scrolls VI drops, which you can check out below.

The Skyrim mod we’re gonna talk about today doesn’t introduce new areas to explore, it simply expands one of the game’s creepiest quests to make it more impactful for the player, and it does a lovely job of doing so.

It was created by JaySerpa and extends the questline The Whispering Door which sees the player free a Daedra who’s been trapped behind a door in Whiterun. The player must then speak with the Daedra and find an Ebony Blade, before slicing up a few people to open the door.

It’s quite a dark quest in the base game, but this mod makes it even darker as it extends the length and provides more options for the player to choose from.

If you don’t trust the lady behind the door, you can now speak to the Jarl and dispose of the blade that’ll free her, but you can also betray the Jarl to keep the sword for yourself.

Characters like Nelkir and Balgruuf have more to say in the quest as well, helped by new voice lines created by splicing together phrases from their dialogue.

The mod also changes the way NPCs treat you depending on the path you choose, giving the quest a more “world changing” feel as the creator puts it.

It’s a mod worth checking out, especially since the Whispering Door quest is actually quite easy to miss if you don’t explore Dragonsreach in Whiterun properly.
