The Elder Scrolls VI may remain a way off, but something else is set to land this year that should keep us occupied in the meantime.
If you’re a fan of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim then I’m going to assume that you’re familiar with Skyblivion.
If you haven’t, Skyblivion is a major modding project that’ll see its creators seek to attempt to totally recreate Oblivion in Skyrim’s engine.

It’s a project that’s garnered a ton of hype thanks to its immense ambition and scale.
In fact, Skyblivion has been in the works since 2012. Yes, longer than The Elder Scrolls VI in fact.
It wasn’t until 2020 that the modding team unveiled our first look at the remake, which is finally scheduled to land this year.
We don’t have an exact release date beyond the vague window of ‘2025’ but devs have just dropped a fresh look at Skyblivion’s gameplay.

The Elder Scrolls VI’s original reveal trailer remains all there is to see of that project.
Skyblivion is set to be supported in both Skyrim Legacy Edition and Skyrim Special Edition as well as Oblivion - and it’ll be completely modular, so you can download the components that suit you.
It’ll transport across all of Oblivion’s weapons, quests, locations, and DLC, promising a boosted 4K resolution.

I’m imagining that you can see why many are so hyped now?
In a new YouTube stream by dev Rebelzize, we can get an updated feel for what Skyblivion might play like.
The 39-minute showcase featured everything you could possibly hope to catch a glimpse of, from exploration to combat - and it’s all shaping up very nicely.
“I have been waiting for as long as this project has existed,” wrote one viewer. “I am beyond excited. I fully intend to take a few days off work when this releases.”

“I have such a big smile as I watch this,” added another.
“Heard ‘Glory of Cyrodiil’ playing in the background while you were roaming around and nostalgia hit me,” commented another. “Thank god you kept Oblivion’s audio.”
Of course, when a release date does become available, we’ll be sure to update you.
Skyblivion is set to be totally free when it does launch.
