Fallout 5 is years away. That’s a hard pill to swallow, but a fact we must accept nonetheless.
As I’m sure you’re aware, Bethesda is in the midst of supporting Starfield. Following the game’s release last year, its first expansion - titled Shattered Space - is due to drop sometime during 2024. We also know several quality of life updates are on the way, including the long-awaited addition of city maps. When the focus does eventually shift away from Starfield, it’ll move onto The Elder Scrolls VI which I’m imagining is going to be a colossal project. You can see then why some patience is going to be required when it comes to Fallout 5.
Take a look at some of our favourite Starfield wins and fails below.
That being said, Bethesda games do tend to foster some of the best modding communities out there - with the Fallout franchise boasting a particularly talented one. With that in mind, if you find yourself revisiting Fallout 4 whilst we await Fallout 5, you may want to check out the stellar Obscurum IV mod to totally overhaul and revitalise the game.

Created by NexusMods user Thumblesteen and the wider Obscurum Team, the ‘Obscurum IV - StateSec - Beta 077’ mod introduces a new world, story, and enemies to transform the game into an immersive war shooter. In the mod, you’ll assume the role of a ‘minuteman’ - and I should add that it’s a total conversion mod, so do expect a very different experience.
There’s a new officer rank system, a revamped health system, new (and more deadly) AI making it harder to outsmart your enemy, a new wasteland, new faction, and new gear including backpacks and kevlar vests. This mod is easily the size of a full DLC so should keep you entertained for quite a few hours. It’s free to download now on NexusMods, so why not give it a whirl?
