Halo fans have been treated to a New Covenant trailer for the upcoming fan-made expansion, which looks absolutely gorgeous.
While the Halo series hasn't been quite the same for several years, there’s little denying that it’s one of the most iconic properties in the history of video games. Sure, Halo Infinite on PC and Xbox may have missed the mark (it's a much better game now) but with 343 Industries rebranding as Halo Studios, it’s clear that Microsoft intends to get the series back on track.
Check out the Halo Infinite trailer below!
Whether Halo does get back on track with its next game (whenever that may arrive) thankfully there’s still plenty of fun to be had with the likes of Halo: The Master Chief Collection as well as fantastic community mods such as the one featured in today's article.

The mod in question is Halo New Covenant and it’s an expansion to the criminally underrated 2009 game, Halo 3: ODST, which was originally intended to be an expansion to Halo 3 before it morphed into a standalone game.
While Halo 3: ODST is set during the events of Halo 2, the New Covenant mod takes place after the events of Halo 3 and promises to take its story into a “new direction”.
The development of Halo New Covenant is nearing its completion with the modder stating in the description of the most recent trailer on YouTube, that three of the four missions are complete.

Presumably, with this mod being available on 29 January 2025, the fourth mission is nearly finished ahead of its big launch. Rather than being available via the likes of Nexusmods, you can download Halo New Covenant in Halo 3: ODST’s Steam Workshop.
Sadly, as is the nature of most mods, Halo New Covenant is a PC exclusive. For the rest of us, we can still enjoy the entire Halo franchise as intended with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
