GTA 6 release date causing serious concern for PC gamers

GTA 6 release date causing serious concern for PC gamers

But I want it now!

With the coming of GTA VI, there are a large portion of fans who will be left out in the cold, rather than walking the sunny streets of Vice City.

Why? Because Rockstar Games doesn’t prioritise PC over consoles, or even with the same parity.

The latest trailer for GTA Online features a little GTA VI easter egg.

There’s myriad reasons behind this; consoles have always been a frontrunner for the company since the early PlayStation days, and PCs are notoriously tougher to develop for due to the vast variety of hardware.

Some would have you think it’s down to money by saying things like, “Because they make more money delaying it,” and that may indeed play a part.

Regardless, GTA VI won’t be releasing for PC on the same day as consoles. It could be a couple of years after and a large portion of the fanbase is gutted about this.

On Reddit, fans are upset and frustrated.

“Rockstar wants people to double dip,” says domZ1026.

The theory goes that anyone desperate enough to play will buy a console, or use their console to play the game, then buy a second copy when PC finally get’s a chance to shine.

The folks of Reddit are strong in their belief that Rockstar Games could optimise faster if they wanted to.

“I don't know how much Rockstar is paying people to spout this 'optimisation' lie, but they have enough time, resources, and money to release a PC version day one that runs well,” comments one Redditor.

Others agree, saying, “Delayed release is pure and only marketing.”

LeoCaldwell02 plays devil’s advocate by commenting, “PC people would complain about the game not being optimised enough for them if it came out the same day as consoles.”

To a degree, both camps are right. Rockstar Games and Take-Two are businesses that earn revenue, so delaying is the same business sense as releasing new ‘lite’ and ‘pro’ consoles.

However, with everyone’s PC running multiple components from different manufacturers, it can be harder to get things right in such a vast game.

Either way, PC players lose out on the initial excitement, and that’s sad for everyone.
