Alongside the Assassin’s Creed series, Far Cry is one of Ubisoft’s most popular and long-running properties, and perhaps the best game of that series is Far Cry 3.
When Ubisoft released Far Cry 3 in 2012, it became one of the best entries in its series thanks to its fun action gameplay, a sense of adventure on a deadly tropical island, lush visuals as well as one of the most iconic villains in all of video games - Vaas Montenegro played by Michael Mando of Better Call Saul fame.
Check out the Far Cry 3 trailer below!
“Far Cry 3 is an open-world first-person shooter set on an island unlike any other. A place where heavily armed warlords traffic in slaves” reads the synopsis of the game. “Where outsiders are hunted for ransom. And as you embark on a desperate quest to rescue your friends, you realise that the only way to escape this darkness… is to embrace it”

In 2018, Far Cry 3 received a re-release with the Classic Edition and while it had features removed such as multiplayer, map editor and no 60 frames per second boost, it at least came with an increased resolution. However, as great as this game is, this remaster was still underwhelming.
Thankfully, talented modders are always on the case such as Verdugo7 with the free ‘Far Cry 3 Reborn (Total Overhaul)’ mod available now via NexusMods. With the aid of collaborating with other mods, this Far Cry 3 fan-made remaster improves the game's resolution, brings enhanced textures, and even rebalances the gameplay to add a touch of “realism” and “immersion” to make the game less easy, according to the modder.
What’s more, the mod in question also tweaks the performance of weapons, alters the field of view, makes changes to the user interface as well as adjustments to the in-game store prices and more.
Sadly, as with the nature of most mods, this mod for Far Cry 3 is only available for the PC version of the game. As for the rest of us, we can at least play Far Cry 3 as originally intended on PlayStation and Xbox.
